AI Adoption Surges Across Ireland

Artificial intelligence adoption in Ireland has reached 91%, according to research from Trinity Business School—a dramatic leap from 49% in 2024. The surge reflects widespread integration of AI technologies across the Irish economy and demonstrates significant momentum in the country’s AI ecosystem.

Startups Leading the Way

Irish startups are particularly ahead of the curve. Sixty-three percent of Irish startups have adopted AI, with 36% placing AI at the core of their business models. This compares sharply to the European average of 29% adoption among startups, positioning Ireland well above the continental benchmark.

Economic Impact on the Horizon

AI is projected to add at least €250 billion to the Irish economy by 2035, underlining the transformative potential of the technology across sectors. This projection signals substantial economic opportunity if adoption momentum continues.

Strategic Investments and Job Creation

Major technology firms have backed Ireland’s AI trajectory with significant commitments:

BNY Mellon announced an €8 million investment in 2023 to set up a digital research and development hub in Dublin, projected to create 30 specialist jobs by 2025.

IBM committed to a three-year investment creating up to 800 high-tech jobs in research and development, digital sales, and consulting. The roles focus on building advanced software based on generative artificial intelligence in areas of security, automation, and hybrid cloud.

CalypsoAI opened its global co-headquarters in Dublin in 2024 and announced expansion of its workforce in Ireland to 100 people over the coming year.

Crusoe announced its European headquarters in Dublin earlier in 2026.

Intercom announced an investment of nearly €90 million in artificial intelligence and the creation of 75 new jobs, including in the research and development division.

Strategic Policy Refresh

Ireland launched its national AI strategy in July 2021 and unveiled a refreshed strategy in late 2024. The renewed approach includes establishment of a National AI Research Nexus to unify research efforts, creation of an AI regulatory sandbox to foster innovation in AI, and development of a national campaign aimed at increasing AI adoption among small and medium-sized enterprises.
